Counselling is an individual choice and there are many reasons why people come to therapy including to deal with long-standing emotional issues, problems with anxiety or depression. Other times it is in response to unexpected changes in one's life that are difficult and the advice of a counselor is sought in the pursuit of personal exploration and growth. Working with a therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies for all types of challenges. Therapy can help address many issues including depression, anxiety, conflict, grief, stress management, marital issues, and general life transitions. We all go through challenging situations in life, and while you may have successfully navigated through difficulties you've faced, there is nothing wrong with seeking out extra support when it is needed. In fact, therapy is for people who have enough self-awareness and courage to realize that a helping hand is needed. You are courageous by accepting where you're at in life and making a commitment to change the situation by seeking counselling.

My focus is to improve the lives of people and I will accomplish this through developing a trusting therapeutic relationship that is collaborative, client centered, and solution focused. It is my goal to empower people in order to improve their emotional health and well-being though collaboration. Therapy sessions are therefore unique and personalized to individual goals and primary issues and concerns. It is common to schedule a series of weekly sessions that are fifty minutes, or thirty minutes in length. Therapy can be short-term, focusing on a specific issue, or longer-term in order to address more complex issues or maintain personal growth. I am trained and have extensive experience in the delivery of evidence based therapies to address and improve mental issues and disorders. However, in order for therapy to be effective it is important that you are actively participating both during and in between sessions. Change mostly happens outside of the therapy office, and therefore, it is important to discuss the change process that occurs between sessions. Improvement won’t happen overnight, but you should see some change, even if it’s just a better understanding of your own thoughts and feelings.
